From Nick:

As many or all of you may know, the first annual Nick H. Three Rivers Wild Turkey Ironman started Monday evening and was completed around 8 PM Tuesday. We had a great turnout, and were even lucky enough to have the NHTRWTI founder ride with us. I sincerely hope that you will all be able to join next year’s ride where T-shirts will be provided.

Photos from this year’s ride will be posted soon at www.peterchurch.com. (forthcoming)

A little background: The NHTEWT Ironman, founded in 2009, officially marks the beginning of the biking season in Minnesota. Held on the first nice day following the April new moon, know as the “seed moon” by pagan circles, the NHTRWTI involves a late night Wild Turkey whiskey bender of which Dave must be a part, followed immediately by a 100 mile bike ride from Brooklyn Park to Stillwater and back. Along the way participants witness the flowing waters of the powerful Mississippi, Minnesota, and St. Croix rivers, but what makes this ride really special is that it does not officially end until an actual wild turkey is spotted.

Challengers,

My internet is not cooperating with me this evening, so I cannot provide all the details of my participation in the Ironman bike ride. I will say briefly that the experience was long, freezing, dirty, headwind-laden and delirium-inducing. However, in the end, I triumphed over the ride and checked a box. I will write more when I have a more reliable internet connection.

Truly yours,

Comm. C.

P.S.  You can see/read a little more over at the Minnesota Ironman Bicycle Ride page, including this excerpt:

Special note to the century (100-mile) riders: you guys are animals. That was an incredible ride.”

Challengers,

Nick and I will both be riding in the annual Minnesota Ironman Bike Ride tomorrow, April 26.

Will it be raining?

Will it be miserable?

Will Nick wear a wetsuit?

Only time will tell.

Will the checking of another “endurance” box feel great?

I suspect it will feel box-checkingly great.

Truly yours,

Comm. C.

Fishing Alert

April 8, 2009

Challengers,

Tyler and I will be fishing the channel between Lake of the Isles and Calhoun today.  I’ll probably get there around 5:30-5:45 and stay until 7:30-8:00.  I’ll do my best to not catch all the fish before other Challengers arrive.

Truly yours,

Comm. C.
